Frequently Asked Questions

  • Fire safety refers to the precautions and practices designed to reduce the risk of fire and protect lives and property from fire-related hazards. This includes prevention, detection, and response strategies.

  • Choosing a fire protection company isn't always easy. While many companies provide the same inspections and similar services, the experience you receive can be very different.

At Empire Fire, we believe the difference is in how we serve our customers. We begin by listening to your needs, answering your questions, and recommending only the services that are appropriate for your facility. You'll receive clear communication, straightforward pricing, and scheduling that works with your business whenever possible.

Our technicians arrive prepared, perform inspections thoroughly, and document their findings clearly so you understand the condition of your fire protection systems. If deficiencies are found, we'll explain what they mean and discuss your options without unnecessary pressure.

From your first phone call to the completion of your service, our goal is simple: provide dependable fire protection with honest communication, quality workmanship, and responsive customer service.

  • Congratulations on your new building! Empire Fire & Safety wishes you continued success in your new venture.

As a new owner, one of your first priorities should be understanding the condition and inspection status of your fire protection systems. We recommend obtaining any available inspection reports, testing records, maintenance logs, and repair history from the previous owner or property manager.

If you're unsure about your building's fire code requirements, your local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)—typically the local fire marshal or fire department—can provide guidance on the codes and regulations that apply to your property.

If you're uncertain where to begin, Empire Fire Protection can help review your existing systems, identify any overdue inspections or testing, and recommend the services needed to help keep your building safe and compliant.

  • Scheduling inspections doesn't have to be a hassle. We recommend scheduling your next inspection at least a month before it's due. Planning ahead gives you more flexibility when choosing an appointment date and helps reduce the risk of missing required inspection deadlines.

Inspection frequencies vary depending on the type of fire protection system and the applicable codes and standards. While many systems include annual inspections or testing, some systems require more frequent service, while others are inspected at longer intervals.

If you're unsure when your next inspection is due, we're happy to help. Contact Empire Fire Protection, and we'll review your fire protection systems, explain the required inspection intervals, and help you establish a schedule to keep your building compliant.

  • A beeping fire alarm panel does not always mean there is a fire. Fire alarm systems can beep for several reasons, including trouble conditions, supervisory signals, low batteries, communication issues, or an active fire alarm.

If you believe there is a fire or your building's fire alarm is in alarm, follow your emergency procedures immediately, evacuate the building if necessary, and call 911.

If there is no emergency and your fire alarm panel is beeping or displaying a trouble message, avoid attempting repairs or resetting the system unless you are authorized and trained to do so. Instead, contact Empire Fire Protection. We can help determine what the panel is indicating and schedule a technician to diagnose and resolve the issue.

  • Finding out your fire protection system has deficiencies can be stressful, but in most cases, deficiencies can be corrected.

After your inspection, you'll receive a report identifying any deficiencies found and, if applicable, your system may be tagged to indicate its inspection status. The severity of a deficiency can vary depending on the issue, so it's important to address them promptly.

If you've received a deficiency report, contact Empire Fire Protection. We'll review the findings with you, answer any questions you have, and provide a clear quote for the necessary repairs. Once approved, we'll schedule a technician to complete the work and help restore your system to proper working order.
